Our Start Up Story - Learning from our mistakes.

This week has been a hard one. We started selling via Not on The High Street at the beginning of May and we've been having good week on week increases in our sales. It's made life busy with lots of trips to the post office. Orders seem to pop up late in the evening, so I've often been found packing up items in our spare room stock room in my pjs just before bedtime. Being busy is great,  you don't have enough time to do all the big-picture long-term stuff, but it feels 'sort of ok' because you're busy.
But then this week, we've had a few things happen (mainly involving complicated postal conundrums) These have made us realise that the big picture is really important. You can't fluff it, you have to thing long term because if you put your head in the sand it will impact you later.

And then yesterday, we had a print order delivered exactly as we ordered it, only we ordered it on the wrong card. Things like this are bound to happen, but oh my, it's been the icing on the cake. It's made us question other decisions, not about our product, but about this steep learning curve where we need to be on top of all the various strands. But here's the thing...I don't think we'll ever repeat that mistake, so in a way, it's good for us to make mistakes now whilst we're still a small business. (world party domination looms don't you know?)
How do you learn from your mistakes? Well firstly you have to make them, so it seems like we're off to a good start then.
